A group of merchants and residents in California’s Bay area have come together and created their own, new, local currency: BREAD Hours.

Bay Area Regional Exchange and Development, or BREAD, is a community creating a positive alternative economy. We trade our goods and services with each other, using a local currency called BREAD Hours. Using BREAD Hours as currency ensures that our resources stay within the community. Join BREAD, build our community and STOP our resources from supporting global corporations that are not accountable to people and the environment.
