Still not dead.

I’m still not dead. Yet.

No, I haven’t been running. I’ve been settling into my new job, and coming up with all sorts of excuses when I think “I really ought to get back to running.”

So, yes, I suck. And I should be beaten severely about the head and shoulders. And I should run.

I guess the discovery that I couldn’t get that “runner’s high” during every workout was a bit of a set-back. That would’ve been a heckuva motivation! Ahh well… something to shoot for.

I’ve also installed a new plugin for WordPress to control some bad behavior on the part of blog spammers. We’ll see how this goes. If it keeps any of you, my RBF friends, from viewing the site properly or posting comments, then please let me know as soon as possible by sending me email at spamblocker@lafes.net.

  1. There’s Lafe. Welcome back. Did you use the “open proxy” blocker for comment spammers? It does a good job blocking a huge chunk of them. I think WP 1.5 has is as a checkbox but I put it in as a plugin.

Hey Jon. Yep, I’m using the open proxy blocker. The latest batch of spammers are using a botnet instead of open proxies. Lovely. So far, the bad behavior plugin is doing a marvelous job.

Welcome Back! Good luck with the running. Summer is the perfect time to get back on the roads.

  4. Lafe says:

Thanks April! Though, since today pulled off a 101F heat index, I’m not so sure you’re right about summer…

  5. aprilanne says:

Well, that just means you have to wake up extra early–before the day gets to hot! :)

Any run of late? I hope all is going well!!

    *running NOT run

Alas, no. It is very good of you to check up on me. I’m still reading the blogs of my RBF friends.

I just haven’t done any running. It was too easy to choose that as one of the many things I needed to de-prioritize for a hard time in my life. Between starting a new job, dealing with a few crises in a row, dealing with some relationship problems with my wife, and everything that goes along with being a parent… I just haven’t kept up with it.

At this point, it’s one of those things I really want to get back to. When I have anything like the (personal) resources to do so.

I’m sorry its been crazy for you. I’m sure things will work out—it just takes time, right?

  10. aprilanne says:

I hope things are going well. I have to take you off my blog list because it’s getting out of control. If you start posting again, please let me know and I’ll add you back on the list. Take Care.

Yeah, as much as I love Runners High (the reason I keep running) unfortunately, you can’t have it all of the time. I have found certain songs that bring it on though. You might want to note next time you get it and how/when/why it’s happening. I’ve found songs that do it automatically or if I relax while listening and running… BAM, a feeling of flying! Good Luck!
