My Friends
Maybell's Homepage
This is my sweetheart... Maybell. Maybell's Homepage
is a treat for the eyes, mind, and heart. Take a look!
BK Marcus
BK is a friend and neighbor of mine. He's built a thought-provoking
website.
Abi and Xenon
Some good friends of mine, known as Abi and Xenon to most of their IRC friends, have
a great web page. Check it out.
GuildBoss website
A friend of mine, who is known as Paul, Graf, or Guildboss, has created a shareware application solely devoted to
the running of guilds/clans for online games. If you ask me, he did an outstanding job. Go check it out at his
GuildBoss website.
If you and your site are not on this list, but you should be,
please email me and I'll add it.

IBForums
One good key to keeping visitors coming back to your site is interactivity. What better way to do this than have a message
board? My favorite, and the one I use for lafes.net is
IBForums.
WordPress
Another good key to keeping visitors coming back is frequent updates. This can be a pain to do, if you don't sit around
pushing out HTML all day. Fortunately, WordPress has the answer. This is
a script that allows you to update your website, using your browser! I also use this one for lafes.net.

IRC Related
ChaTcIRCuiT
If you are an IRC user, then you'll love
ChaTcIRCuiT E'Zine. It's filled with some great stuff for IRC'ers.
Pirch
For the longest time I believed that Pirch was the best IRC client
out there. Unfortunately, Pirch development has been discontinued, and so I have quit using this client. It's still
an outstanding client. It took nearly three years for the others to finally achieve more features than could be found
in Pirch!
vIRC
Currently, I believe that vIRC is probably the best client available.
It's not for the IRC newbie though. If you're new to IRC, then you should choose mIRC.
mIRC
Some people, deluded and misguided as they may be, insist that mIRC is the best
IRC client available. Currently, in my opinion, this just ain't so. However with the lack of development put
in to Pirch, and the difficulty for new IRC users to get used to vIRC, I'd have to say that this one is probably in
the best position for acquiring new users.

Space
MSNBC Space
This is a great site to keep up with significant happenings in space exploration. I hit this site
on a daily basis.
NASA
Of course, one of the best places to check for space news, is NASA
itself.
Space Tracking
The Liftoff to Space Exploration website
is the home of the Java Space Tracker 3D, and J-Pass. This software allows you to track in real-time
everything from the International Space Station, to weather satellites, and to predict when
those objects will be passing overhead, and visible to you on the ground.
The Enterprise Mission
This site, run by Richard Hoagland,
is peppered with conspiracy theories, and Richard Hoagland's very original ideas. Though I don't
agree with a lot of things on this site, he can still come up with some very interesting news
and ideas.

Software I Use
Proxomitron
For the longest time, I wasn't a fan of ad-blocking software. It seemed too
much of a pain to use. However, over time internet advertising has gotten
ever more intrusive. Apparently, the authors of this advertising feel that
since banner ads don't work, maybe a popup window with no close button that
flashes white and red and spawns another four browsers upon termination is
a better way to get you to buy stuff. Fortunately, ad-blocking software has
matured as well. Enter Proxomitron.
This free software blocks ALL of the most annoying
advertising and scripting tricks. And it speeds up your browsing experience
besides. No more waiting on slow-loading advertisements! I highly recommend it.
Trillian
Do you use an instant messenger? Which one? AIM? ICQ? Yahoo? MSN? Do you have friends that use
instant messengers other than the one you use? If you answered "Yes" to any of the
preceding questions, then you need to check out Trillian. I
believe that Trillian is the best instant messenger client available. I use it exclusively.
ZoneAlarm
If you are connected to the internet, and you use a Windows operating system, then you need a
firewall. Seriously. That isn't a question. Windows has had (and still has) so many vulnerabilities
that are exploitable by malicious "hackers" that it isn't funny. Fortunately, there
are some solutions. One solution which is extremely easy to implement is
ZoneAlarm. ZoneAlarm comes in two flavors. The "Pro"
version, and the free-for-personal-use regular version. The regular version is more than
enough to protect your system from just about any attack. If you are not using a personal
firewall, then please, for your own sake, download ZoneAlarm and run it.
Kerio Personal Firewall
In the same vein as ZoneAlarm, Kerio Personal Firewall
is a personal firewall that protects you from many forms of internet attack. The difference between
KPF and ZoneAlarm is capability and ease-of-use. ZoneAlarm makes things terribly easy on the user, and
is pretty simple to get set up. Some of us need a bit more in the way of customizability though, which
is where KPF steps up. This firewall is a bit more capable, but it requires a bit more knowledge to get
set up correctly. It is also free for personal use, and is my firewall of choice.
WinAmp
If you like to listen to music, and you like to listen to music on your computer, then you
should take a look at WinAmp. This free music playing
software is one of the best MP3/CD Audio players available. And did I mention that it's free?

Internet Resources
Google
If you are very new to the internet, you may not have heard about search engines yet. A search engine is an
invaluable tool to the surfer. I like Google the best.
Altavista
Another great search engine is Altavista. Between this one, and Google,
you should be able to find anything you need.
Ask Jeeves
If you have a very simple question, something like "How many miles are between the earth and the moon?" Then
Ask Jeeves may be just the place for you.
